Meet A Mom- Maria | Fairfax County Moms

Welcome to Fairfax County Moms, a part of The Local Moms Network. I am Maria and I thank you for visiting the site and hope you will also follow us on Facebook and Instagram. I hope this page will become a great, one stop shop type resource for you and your families. If you are new to the Fairfax County area or a life long member of the community, this page will surely help you enjoy all the area has to offer.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Fairfax County?

I grew up in Fairfax County and moved away permanently in 2007. I returned in 2018 and it is a different area from the one I remembered.

How many children do you have? What are their names and ages?

I have two boys: Danny (6) and Ryan (4)

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I have lived in 4 different countries and 8 states.

Is there anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

My “tribe” as I like to call them. In a previous life, I was a military spouse who moved eight times in six years. The women that became like family got me through some tough parenting moments and seasons.

What are your favorite things to do with your kids?

My boys and I love to watch movies together and try different ice cream parlors.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

For a number of years, I have been involved with the chapter based military non-profit Blue Star Families, in both paid and volunteer positions. Blue Star Families offers military families (Active Duty, National Guard and Reserves) with resources, information, and so much more. It was started by a small group of military spouses in 2009, and it has grown to be a national non-profit that folks in the Military Service Organization space turn to to help their military families.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

The Fairfax County area was a big part of my life as the place where I grew up. It has been great to return as an adult and mom and be able to experience a different side of what the area has to offer.
